The Fray has a new deluxe version of their album out, so we made a new variation of our cover for them.

Oh, and we also made this cover for their iTunes live pass a little while ago. I don’t think we ended up posting it here though — so here it is.
(p.s. that’s me fixing the (self-wired, finicky, and probably dangerous) fluorescent tube signs Nathan and I made.)

The Made Shop made this poster for you, dear Tumblrer.
I was so honored to have been asked by Jacob and the tumblr staff to make this for the Reblog This Film Festival. And I was equally upset that I couldn’t actually attend, particularly because my good friends Rian, Ronen, & Joe were all there showing their collaborative movie Page 439.

See that poster link down there? Yes, I, The Made Shop, made that for you, dear Tumblrer.
Really, really wish I could have been there.
Reblog This Film Festival: Recap
Last week we had the honor of showcasing a few of the incredibly talented filmmakers on Tumblr. Spending the night with our esteemed film community in Hollywood was absolutely spectacular.
But even if you couldn’t make it, we’ve immortalized the event on tumblr.com/films. Go check out these unbelievable short films, print out a poster, and reblog your photos from the red carpet!

The Fray, Syndicate photo shoot. Table Mountain, Colorado
This is me shooting the interior page for Syndicate before the park ranger came and told us we had to stop.
We got permits for all the other locations, but I guess shooting on this kind of land requires a permit from the city as well. Thankfully the jolly ranger said we could use whatever we had already photographed.

The Fray interior album cover photo shoot. Hanging Lake, Colorado
This is the shoot for the final page in the booklet where all the credits appear. Marke and I hiked what turned out to be a much longer trail than we anticipated with Katie and Kim. It was misting when we reached the top.
This is how The Made Shop works. If it’s raining, we get out there and cover that photographer with that yellow parka, man.

The New Time. An Incomplete History. Full 6-Panel Layout.
When John Davidson of The New Time approached us to design the artwork for their new (Nathan-Johnson-produced) EP record, An Incomplete History, I was thrilled; partly because I love their unique sound, but also because of the somewhat bizarre and intriguing design ideas John had for the album artwork. We talked about creating the artwork as a sort of “false history” of the last century where the stylistic divisions of the past decades are all mashed together in a mysterious/parallel/anachronous history.
We started talking back and forth to each other in the form of visual references we both liked: from soviet propaganda, to twenties deco, atomic fifties sci-fi, turn-of-the-century broadsides, antique medical engravings, and many more. Then, as a glue to bind these disparate elements together, we became intrigued by the symbology of secret societies (e.g. the Masonic Order), which seemed to function as a sort of constructed impenetrability that was perfect for our project.
