This, after many failed attempts, a few drunken nights, and a great deal of subsequent research, was the first concept sketch for The Brothers Bloom poster that Rian and I thought captured the feel of the movie. The whole poster was designed to be an homage to the great work of Richard Amsel (the man behind the beautiful Raiders of the Lost Ark poster), and the structure itself borrowed (stole) liberally from Amsel’s poster for The Shootist, starring John Wayne.

Deep and heartfelt thanks to Andrew O’Hagan at the Evening Standard for such kind words, and to everyone I’ve had the pleasure of meeting here in London at the Bloom screenings.
Bloom is playing this week in major cities, and should be spreading into smaller cities in the UK over the next few weeks.

Aaaahhhh! Finally!!
Pictured here in my hotel room in Belgrade during filming of The Brothers Bloom. Known far and wide as The Best Worst Band In Germany. This was, I believe, during the recording of Ausfliegen Entweichen, before we just decided to record it live on set for the movie. Which it got cut from. Reaffirming the “Best Worst Band In Germany” title after all. We will show the world.
